Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
The Department offers undergraduate (UG) B.Tech programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), ECE (Smart System), ECE (Embedded System), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), and EEE (Energy & Power System). Department also offers postgraduate (PG) M.Tech programs in Electronics & Communication Engineering and in Electrical & Electronics with specialization in Mobile & Broadband technology, Telecommunication & Optical system, Digital Communication & Signal Processing, VLSI design, and Embedded Technology, Instrumentation & Control and Power System with the vision of being recognized as a leading Centre of technical education. The Department has strong research programs leading to a Ph.D. degree in all the areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. An immense number of Ph.D. scholars are currently engaged in cutting-edge research in the Department.
In addition, the department has acquired expertise in the area of VLSI Design, Signal Processing, Wireless & Optical Communication Networks, Antenna & RF System Design, Image-Speech & Video processing, Testing & Verification of VLSI Design, Reconfigurable Processor and Embedded System Design. State-of-art laboratories have been set up in the department for both UG as well as for PG Programs and are well equipped with computational facilities with resources, both in terms of hardware and software.
The Department has a pool of well-qualified faculty members with rich experience in academia and industrial exposure who have been imparting quality education at the UG and PG levels. The Department is committed to providing an outstanding research and learning environment to its students. The faculty members are constantly involved in research activities in the areas of Electronics & Communication engineering.
The Department offers in-house summer training which has a specific customized program to the students for extended learning. Students actively organize and participate in various workshops and seminars under the aegis of IEEE/IIRS/NITTTR etc. The Department has strived to achieve a large number of sponsored research projects funded by various agencies such as ISRO, DIT, MHRD, DST, DRDO, DOE, PRL, Naval Research, and Army Technology Board (NA & ATB).
In the future, the department hopes to extend its research into newer areas like Body Area Networks (BAN), Energy Efficient Networks (EEN), Millimeter Wave Systems Imaging, Computational Electromagnetics, Green Communication, and Computing, Organic Electronics, RF Energy Transfer, Healthcare Informatics, Energy Harvesting.
Message from Head of the Department
Dr Sahil Vashisht
Dr Sahil Vashisht (MIEEE) completed his PhD (Regular) in CSE, from Thapar University, Patiala (Pb), India. He was awarded by IEEE Outstanding Leadership Award 2019 in Japan. Currently, he is working as Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SGT University. He has eight years of experience in teaching and four years in research from renowned institutes. He was Head Cyber Security domain, in Chandigarh Engineering College. Dr Sahil Vashisht is an internationally renowned researcher in the areas of Drone/ UAV ad hoc Network, Software Defined Network, IoT and Cloud computing. He has published more than 30 technical research papers in leading journals and conferences from IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, John Wiley. His articles have been published in some of the high impact factors journals such as- Computers & Electrical Engineering, Neural Computing and Applications, IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine, International Journal of Communication Systems, Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies (ETT) and Commuter Communications. Apart from the journals conferences, he has also published papers in some of the core conferences of his area of specialization such as-IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE PiCOM. He has guided many research scholars leading to M.E./M.Tech. He has many research collaborations with premier institutions in India and different universities across the globe. He has been engaged in different academic activities inside and outside the Institute.
